This project seeks to build a publicly accessible equity-in-hiring toolkit and storytelling platform grounded in the lived experiences of Grinnell College’s hiring ecosystem — including hiring managers, Equity Advocates, and staff who have navigated our hiring process. Through research, documentation, and multimedia storytelling, student collaborators will work alongside the Staff Equity team to co-create a digital resource hub that promotes transparency, accessibility, and justice in employment.
The core components include:
- Curating and annotating a library of competency-based hiring resources from across higher education and nonprofit sectors.
- Collaborating on and editing a video testimonial series featuring Equity Advocates, hiring managers, and staff hires who have participated in equitable hiring practices at Grinnell.
- Designing publicly shareable templates and checklists (e.g., sample rubrics, interview question frameworks, reference check guides) that reflect inclusive, bias-mitigating hiring models.
- Collaborating on a reference guide and resource portal for employee accommodations — demystifying processes and uplifting the principles of accessibility and workplace dignity.
